The tunes "Pituka La Bella" and "Arrimate Pa' Ca" were written by Juanito Marquez and done in the "Ritmo Pa'ca", the rhythmic form attributed to him.
Ritmo De Estrellas, my favorite South Florida Cuban Charanga band circa early '60's.
With much influence by Orq. Aragon, especially in their tight crisp vocal style.
With acoustic bass... so much more natural sounding than electric bass.
This LP is now obscure and hard to find a copy in good condition.
Many later pressings of this LP have very poor sound, with much of the bass very low or almost missing. The early pressings are the best, with the bass very full and the thick album cover with a very high glossy cover photo.

"Luis Santi y Su Conjunto"
2 LP double album, not easy to find.

Two LP's by Cuban pianist Luis Santi. The sessions on LP #1 were recorded in Cuba between 1960 and 1965. Several swinging arangements on LP #1 which include the Juanito Marquez composition "Arimate Pa' ca", the classic "Echale Grasa" written by 'Augustin Ribot' and an interesting tune by Luis Santi that he calls "Mozan-Pa'ca-Pilón-Bique" (Mozambique-Pa'ca-Pilón) The sessions on LP #2 are all instrumentals, though I can't find any dates. Luis Santi left Cuba and arrived in Miami in 1970. I've never cared for his Miami LP's post 1970, though many are generally "sought after" LP's. These two vinyl LP's were "transferred" from LP's recorded in Cuba, then in Miami in the late 1970's re-released as 2 LP's in one record cover.

The production is a mess, songs in wrong order and there
are two other bands on this LP.
Cover says "Como Reia Cuba Vol. I" .....
but the labels on vinyl say "Como Bailaba CubaVol. III".

Two LP's by Mario Bauzá, one is a record that was produced for the dance "impresario/teacher" Arthur Murray titled "Pachangas.. Arthur Murray's Music For Dancing", which was released on the RCA Victor label in 1961. It was intended for students learning to dance the "Pachanga".
Mario Bauzá band leader, arrangements by Cuban pianist René "El Látigo" Hernández who played for José Fajardo's band in Cuba before arriving in N.Y.C. in 1961. José "Chombo" Silva plays violin and takes several great solo's. The flautist is most likely the late Mauricio Smith, or Mario Rivera who was also a great flute player.
Graciela sings with her brother Frank Grillo ('Machito") in the coro.
Mario Bauzá plays trumpet, sax and clarinet.

All 12 songs are "swinging" Pachanga's, many were big hits in Cuba for 'José Fajardo', 'Orq. Aragon' and Eduardo Davidson who wrote "La Pachanga" & "Pancho Calma".
Unfortunately they do not give any credits to the musicians on the recording... and several of the song titles are incorrect.
A record that is now obscure.

This LP is out of print, but can still be found on the internet selling for about $40.00 and a bootleg CD can also be found... with one song missing.
