This is a 10" inch LP on Seeco, originally done sometime between 1947 and 1952.
It's very possible that Seeco took these from 78 rpm's
The band at this time was under the direction of Alto saxophonist: 'Pedro Vila',
with 'Pedro "Peruchin" Justiz' on piano... and he takes some really tasty solos.
The bass player is 'Orlando "Cachaito" Lopéz'.
(The son of 'Orestes Lopéz', the nephew of "Cachao"/el sobrino de "Cachao")

What can I say about 'Tito Gomez'.... only that his voice is incredible on this particular LP.
His "sound" on the bolero *"Para Cantar Conmigo" kills!
(Tito had been the lead vocalist since 1942)

On track 1. the drummer plays traps. ("drum set")
& 7. is an orchestral "Cuban jazz" piece with "Peruchin" taking a solo.

I have purposely not "cleaned" this with 'Goldwave V.5', meaning I have left the pops and clicks on this old 10' inch vinyl, so it has that old needle to groove sound.
I have "trimmed" the beginnings and ends of each tune to cut out any empty space before the songs start.

The LP cover of Los Mejores Musicos De Cuba showing a tumbadora made by the great Cuban drum maker 'Candido Requena' with a painting of Santa Barbara on it.

The 1960 classic compilation of previous different music sessions featuring the masters:
Peruchin, Cachao & Orestes Urfé on acoustic bass, Tata Güines, Walfredo De Los Reyes, Richard Egües, many others including the saxophonists Osvaldo Peñalver & Emillio Peñalver along with Estrich all three of them playing their ass's off.
Originally out on the Cuban 'Gema' label which was owned by Alvarez Guedes, then reissued on the 'Rumba' label, and again reissued in 2004 on CD.

"Amaranto Y Su Banda De Cardenas"
Vinyl LP - 1961, '62

Amaranto Fernández, pianist and arranger led a "Cuban Jazz" big band based out of Cárdenas, a municipality and city in the Matanzas Province of Cuba.
('San Juan de Dios de Cárdenas')

He formed his first band 'Copacabana' in 1954.
He changed the name in 1960 to 'Amaranto Y Su Banda Gigante'.
His first LP on the then young E.G.R.E.M. record label titled "Amaranto Y Su Banda De Cardenas" is an incredibly swinging recording, showing not only his piano playing, but his great arranging skill with that fat ballsy ever-present thick baritone sax sound.

On this LP Amaranto does killer arrangements of "Dame Un Chance" as a Son Montuno by Electo Rosell ("Chepin") , "La Tierra Del Rico Son" as a Guapacha by 'Felix Cardenas',
"Es Rico y sabrosón" as a Son Montuno, "Voy Monte Adentro" as a son Montuno by 'Pedro "Peruchin" Justiz' and "Chiqui-Chiqui" done as a Mozambique, the last two with flute solos.
His Danzónes on this are also superb.
Vocals by lead singer, Bebo Suau.

His early LP's are rare and obscure.
I have two of them, one on Egrem and the one before it on the Bravo label.
The LP above recently sold on Ebay for $200.00
He has a 2003 CD out on the Envidia label, but I've never heard it.
However being familiar with Envidia, I probably wouldn't like it.
Sadly... I found a video on YouTube of him at the age of 81 with a band playing in someplace that looked like it was for tourists in Cuba.

The 'Peñalver' brothers: Emilio Peñalver tenor Saxophonist and Osvaldo Peñalver alto saxophonist were just two of several first call studio session players in Havana in the 1950's especially during the era of the "Cuban Jam Sessions" / "Descargas Cubanas", as well as many other recording sessions. Emilio Peñalver played on the classic "Panart Cuban Jam Sessions" LP's as well as on Cachaos "Jam Sessions In Miniature" also on Panart. Both brothers played together on Walfredo De Los Reyes classic "Los Mejores Musicos De Cuba" LP.
The Hermanos Peñalver together in this big band.
