Hey Mark This truly makes me sad. We have lost many musical Icons in a short period. Max the Salazar is of another breed. A very humble man with a never ending invisible suitcase of artist knowledge. He admired Jose Curbelo,Pupi Campos,Machito and on and on. He will be missed. I have to make my comment short. JR
He was a real documentarian on the "New York City" latin scene and he had a great radio show back in the day... much more hip and interesting than the shows currently on the radio on Sundays here in Manhattan.
I have a couple of old "Latin New York" magazines from 1974-'76 with Max's articles.
He was a "keeper of the flame"... the oral history..... R.I.P. / D.E.P.
